Development of Jamaica’s National Investment Policy will be the focus of discussions at a policy forum to be hosted by JAMPRO in partnership with the Management Institute for National Development (MIND) on Thursday (March 15).
The event will take place at the Courtyard by Marriott, New Kingston, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The proposed National Investment Policy aims to identify the factors that would make the investment climate more favourable to potential and existing investors and introduce new policy approaches and strategies to facilitate a smooth and transparent investment process.
The main objective is to implement a national framework to guide the various stakeholders involved in the investment promotion and facilitation processes.
Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Global Partners Consulting in the United States of America (USA), Luis Soto, will be the guest speaker.
Mr. Soto has an impressive track record of working in the field of investment promotion and facilitation and designing implementation strategies as well as campaigns. The policy forum will seek to increase awareness regarding the development of the National Investment Policy; build buy-in among policymakers for the recommendations; and begin the process of increasing cooperation among the investment-promotion and facilitation public stakeholders.
The proposed National Investment Policy is being driven by the Policy Steering Committee, chaired by Senator Don Wehby and consists of representatives from the private and the public sectors as well as civil society and academia.
