  • Documents any resolution as required by law or good practice and explains it to the organisation in a way that can be easily understood.
  • Understands and accurately explains legal documents drafted by others.
  • Recognises and communicates circumstances that give rise to ethical problems or conflicts in legal cases.
  • Identifies procedures for enforcing an order, award or settlement according to law and the court, and performs the enforcement in a timely manner.
  • Clarifies legally debatable clauses and points.
  • Provides and interprets legal information and articulates legal requirements to the members of the organisation.

  • Develops and directs the implementation of strategies and tactics to be used in legal representation and negotiations.
  • Provides and/or instructs external counsel for legal representation for and on behalf of the organisation.
  • Oversees/Leads investigations to facilitate the proper representation of the organisation in litigious matters.
  • Identifies legal issues and potential solutions related to proposed policies and other decisions.
  • Attends parliament to provide clarification on any proposed legislation.
  • Leads in preparing answers to ministerial questions and other presentations to cabinet and parliament involving legal issues.
