  • Familiar with the accounting cycle and its typical functions, common accounting entries, and relationship with financial statements and critical accounting records, including revenue, expenditure, payroll, conversion, and treasury.
  • Understands the structure and relationship of the relevant Government of Jamaica’s financial statements, including:

    • statement of financial position (balance sheet)
    • statement of comprehensive income (profit and loss)
    • receiptsand payments
    • statement
  • Appropriation accounts Understands the sector-specific financial reporting and management issues, such as the treatment of government appropriations, grants, and forward estimates.
  • Understands financial statements, calculates common financial ratios and understands how the cost of capital is calculated. Ensures that the audit procedures are aligned with the management assertions.
  • Understands the legal, economic, social and environmental or other fields of studies affecting the organisation’s strategic direction.
  • Understands and can explain the structure and relationship of the relevant Government of Jamaica’s financial statements, including:

    • statement of financial position (balance sheet)
    • statement of comprehensive income (profit and loss)
    • receipts and payments
    • statement of cash flow
    • appropriation accounts
  • Extensive knowledge of the structure and relationship of the relevant Government of Jamaica’s financial statements.
  • Independently analyses financial statements using financial ratios and understands how financial risks affect the strategic.
  • Independently analyses financial reporting and management issues, such as the treatment of government appropriations grants, and forwards estimates.
